We are witnessing some exciting twists as the suspense builds up in Akwaaba Magic’s latest series, Amoanimaa’s Era. From traveling between two dimensions and making mortals of invincible celestial beings, the story keeps getting better and a clear picture is beginning to form.
Haven’t joined the train yet, what are you waiting for?
Some of the characters we have seen so far have given us a myriad of excitement and created a picture of what to expect like the ensuing clash between Nana Kweku Duah and his Gyaasehene, Nana Osei Bonsu over who can successfully woo Amoanimaa.
We take a look at some of the characters we have seen so far and throw light on their journeys thus far.
Amoanimaa: It is only befitting that we zoom into the life of the once-powerful goddess who has been reduced to the state of a little higher than mortals. Following her desire for ultimate power, Amoanimaa was put into a deep sleep after challenging Owin and his son, Sakora.
Now that she is living among mortals after awakening from 500 years of slumber, Amoanimaa hopes to find her way around and ultimately get her power back and with it, face off with those who betrayed her love, rulership, and trust. She is learning slowly how to come off her high horse and respect those in authority because she is not the once powerful earth goddess she used to be. As she learns the ways of men, she still hopes to one day grow her strength and strike fear into her followers again.
Agya Nimo: After stumbling upon Amoanimaa at the stream, Agya Nimo has proved instrumental in the life of the cast-away goddess. Aside from being the only one who knows of the potential of Amoanimaa, Agya Nimo is also trying to get the goddess to understand the current dispensation she finds herself in and hopes to get her to know what to say and how to say it.
Agya Nimo had been living a solitary life before encountering Amoanimaa. This has got him to open his doors to welcome the Asempa Chief and his Gyaasehene. However, Agya Nimo is skeptical about the topic of his family despite Amoanimaa pushing to know why this fact disturbs him whenever the matter comes up. We cannot wait to find out his story and why he is keeping the details of his family a secret.
Kofi Asomani: After coming close to being put behind bars over the death of a young boy, Kofi Asomani has gone on to show that there is more to him than just being the spectacle-wearing dad to a wheelchair-ridden son. He is caught in an ‘unrequited love’ situation with Korkor because he is finding it difficult to let go of his past. Despite being hardworking, many of the village folk doubt the efficacy of the medicine but he is unfazed by this and still hopes of a big break soon. He has already met Amoanimaa albeit in a bizarre situation and it is yet to be known if their paths will cross again and what their next meeting holds.
Korkor: Love has put Korkor in a situation of filling in for a wife and a mother to Kofi and Kwame Asomani respectively. The young lady is filled with so much love and hopes that Kofi will marry her - a hope that is gradually becoming like she is waiting for a ship at the airport. It seems she is struggling to win the hearts of both father and son. Can she get them to accept her and love her as she expects? We can only wait to see. Despite all of this, she appears to be a sweet soul.
Nana Kweku Duah: The chief of Asempa village is not one to mess with. The custodian of the land has earned a not-too-good name for himself as a warmonger and womanizer. After setting his eyes on Amoanimaa, Nana Kweku Duah is doing everything to get the earth goddess to look his way. This may turn out to be an exercise in futility since he is facing stiff opposition from one of his chiefs. Will diplomacy overcome affluence in the race for Amoanimaa’s heart?
Osei Tutu Bonsu: Touted as one of the affluent inhabitants of Asempa village, Nana Osei Bonsu aims to please only one person – Amoanimaa. The castigator known for dishing it out without fear or favour has lost his tongue ever since coming into contact with Amoanimaa and is willing to spend on her just to win her heart. Will his quest see the light of day?
Kwame Asomani: The wheelchair-ridden son of Kofi Asomani is yet to put on a smile. The young boy is still reeling from the shock of losing his mother and easily takes his anger on anyone trying to play that motherly role in his life. He has indirectly become an albatross in his father’s love life, making it hard for any lady to come into their lives. He is often minding his own business by just not speaking much. We are yet to see what lies ahead for him and if he will ever get to smile. We, however, are eager to find out how he ended up in the wheelchair in the first place.
Yaw Donkor: The chief priest of Asempa is perturbed by the presence of a new force in the village and has come to discover that Amoanimaa is that new force. Despite warning the chief of Amoanimaa’s power and labeling her as a witch, he is taken for granted and ignored. He has however taken it upon himself to expose the goddess and win back the heart of Nana Kweku Duah.
As the series unfolds, every character tells a unique story by giving a glimpse into their personal lives and juxtaposing it with how they fit into the grand scheme of things. We are in for a long thrilling ride on Amoanimaa’s Era and cannot wait to see how everything comes together!
